Drake Donates To The Homeless In Portland--Exclusive Details!
"Worst Behavior" rapper Drake was definitely on his best behavior in Oregon earlier this week.
At about 3 a.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 4, the 27-year-old artist, accompanied by his bodyguard, walked by the Union Gospel Mission of Portland, saw how many people were sleeping in the dining room area
and decided to make a donation right there on the spot.
"Drake was in Portland for his concert. He was out checking out the nightlife," Stacy Kean of the Union Gospel Mission of Portland exclusively told E! News.
"While he was out, he saw we had our emergency cold weather shelter open. He came in and talked to our overnight supervisor, asking, 'Hey, what's going on here?'"
The overnight supervisor explained to Drake that since the conditions were so cold, they were trying to fit as many people in as they could. "Our dining room is packed with people sleeping on mats," said Kean. "We sleep 50-60 people in the dining room during cold weather...when the temperature drops below 32 degrees."
A source told E! News that Drake came in and said it "touched his heart" and proceeded to donate some money.
While the Union Gospel Mission of Portland doesn't disclose donation information, the source noted that it was a "cash donation."
"This is our really busy season," explained Kean. "We are providing more meals, getting more blankets, sleeping bags and socks. It's the time of year where we help a lot of people, so it really helped. It was a really neat example, that he would take a moment and help." Indeed.
